Nurse Practitioner
I’ve always wanted to work in the medical field, but was unsure of what path to take. It wasn’t until I shadowed a nurse practitioner the summer before my junior year in college that I discovered my passion for nursing. I was drawn to the fact that nurse practitioners are not only clinicians, but educators who spend time teaching patients about their health.I’m immensely proud of the work we’re doing to build our diabetes counseling program. We’re now seeing more than 1,000 women every year. That number will likely continue to grow, as will our resources to support the demand for excellent care in our practice and in the community.Helping you understand more about diabetes and how it affects not only your health, but the health of your baby is very rewarding to me. I want you to think of me as your healthcare partner. I’m here to address your concerns and frustrations, and help you make positive health changes. When you have a question or a worry, I’m always just an email or a phone call away.
Prior to becoming a nurse practitioner, Allyson worked in the post-operative unit at the Huntsman Cancer Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah. She continued her work as a nurse in the University of Utah operating room while completing her doctorate degree. Two months after graduation in 2012, the High Risk Pregnancy Center welcomed Allyson as a diabetes advanced practitioner.
