Meet Roxanna Twedt, MD
Looking back, you could say that my future in maternal-fetal medicine was predictable very early in my life. I have vivid memories of elementary school and my first exposure to the reproductive sciences. The process of pregnancy and fetal development fascinated me even then, and my life ever since has been dedicated to further developing this interest and understanding.
After I finished my undergraduate degree, I worked for the State of Nevada Division of Public Health as a biostatistician. Through that work, I was drawn to a career in medicine. Based on my previous work and my interest in maternal health, I entered medical school suspecting that I would pursue a residency in obstetrics and gynecology. From my very first exposure to maternal-fetal medicine in my first year of medical school, I knew this was what I wanted to do.
I know firsthand what it’s like to experience a high-risk pregnancy, with both maternal and fetal complications, and how hard this can be. I hope that my medical training combined with my personal experiences can lead to the best medical outcome for a mother and her baby while at the same time making sure she feels understood and supported in a difficult time.
Dr. Twedt is a lifelong piano player and the proud owner of three West Highland white terriers she frequently enters into dog shows. She is married to a Nevada native and enjoys spending quality time with her husband and their three lovely children.
