Meet Ashlyn Enokian, MS, GC
Genetic Counselor
Genetic counseling is a unique profession that blends two of my favorite topics of study: medical genetics and psychology. I find empowering women in the decision-making process and advocating for families in need extremely rewarding.
Being in tune with each of my patients’ unique health needs, emotions, assumptions, belief systems, and values is essential for building a trusting relationship. Taking an active listening approach helps my patients understand I’ll meet them where they are, get them to where they want to be, and help them make informed decisions about their pregnancies in a safe, non-judgmental environment.
As a BIPOC, I am passionate about increasing accessibility to genetic services and helping underserved populations achieve success. When I was applying to graduate school, I had a difficult time finding mentors and providers who looked like me, and that compelled me to get involved in the DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion) area of our field through outreach, mentoring, and education.
